App Brings World of Beer to Your Fingertips

Can't remember that great beer you had last week?

Don't worry — there's an app for that.

The World of Beer 2.0 app launched in late spring and has everything you need to go from casual beer drinker to connoisseur.

"If you try an IPA you love, you can just put a note in that says, 'Heaven.' That way, two month later when you're trying to remember what you had, you can just flip through your notes," said Heather Matz, manager of the Ballston location.

The app — available at http://wobapp.com — not only lets you take notes, but you can save favorites, hide styles that don't suit your tastes or browse the available beer list that's updated in real time.

World of Beer has 50 brews on tap at all times; a new beer is added whenever a keg runs dry. And one of the eight coolers features rotating stock, so the beer list changes constantly — sometimes seven or eight times just on a Friday night, Matz said.

The app also syncs with the bar's Loyalty Club, which gives you a point whenever you try a new beer. Rewards range from a shirt for making it to the 50 Club to World of Beer paying for a party if you reach the 1,000 Club.

World of Beer opened in Arlington in August 2012.
