ReplyHow about: Require bicyclists on public streets and roads to wear high visibility clothing? Vigorously enforce traffic ordinances for all who use public streets and roads? Cite bicyclists for reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, and DUI?

ReplyZimmerman et.al. are afraid, VERY afraid, that Arlingtonians who would pay for a VERY expensive streetcar system on the Pike and in Crystal City will see photos and videos of an inexpensive and flexible BRT system with off-the-shelf vehicles that would cost $260 million less than a Pike streetcar. Like this YouTube video of the popular and successful Las Vegas BRT, which runs on dedicated lanes in the outer burbs and city streets in downtown Vegas:

ReplyPeople, if a hurricane is headed your way this Summer, just pack up the pets, pack the contents of your refrigerator into coolers, and go on vacation to a place that doesn't suffer from hurricanes. Why stick around when it's 95 degrees w/o air conditioning when the power's off for 4 days?

ReplyThe Pike streetcar is a huge waste of tax dollars. For the amount that was wasted on designing, planning, and construction of the million dollar each Pike bus shelter program we could have 2 or 3 state-or-the art BRT vehicles (which do not need dedicated lanes) already running on the Pike.
