ReplyAgree with Barry....GBLT's who are 'out and about' in the United States belong to a quasi-religious belief system with rules, ceremonies, sects, and fixed beliefs. Agree with Rebecca, most Americans are born into families holding religious beliefs, adopt those beliefs, and change those beliefs or stop being religious with difficulty, if at all.
LGBT in the United States is another religion and should be treated the same as all religions in the United states are treated.

ReplyFor the money that was wasted planning, designing and constructing the Pike superstops Arlington could have purchased 2-3 Wright RTV articulated (aka Las Vegas) buses and have them running right now on the Pike.
Speaking of waste of money, there has apparently been little or no internal audit function in the Arlington County Manager's office for the past two years..

ReplyCuts to essential services were and are reprehensible in view of Arlington's growing population. I have no respect for County Government. It's all about a little in-group at 2100 Clarendon Blvd. and their pet people and organizations and not about the 210,000 other residents they were elected to serve.

ReplyWhy don't the local media tell the truth about about news blackout of information about bus alternatives to the Pike streetcar? It's being coordinated by the County Manager's PR team.
Why do I have to visit the Arlington Yupette blog to know what's going on in this County?

ReplyJason,
I agree with Janet. Patch has provided ZERO information about BRT and alternative bus systems designed and pit into operation over teh past 5 years. Why do I have to visit the Arlington Yupette blog to see what a state of the art, cool looking, bus rapid transit vehicle that lots of people will want to ride looks like? This Vegas BRT vehicle has actually been in operation for more than four years with a high approval rating from Las Vegas residents and tourists.

ReplyHow many local, state, and federal tax dollars have been spent for additional bus shelters on the Pike? One million? Two million? I am writing to the U.S. Department of Transportation asking for an investigation by the Inspector General's Office.

ReplyCut the waste first, like school buses 10% full, kids throwing tons of unpalatable food away every day. And, oh yes, the non-residents allowed to enroll their kids in Arlington schools using a relative's Arlington address or their former condo unit where they no longer live.

We are being overwhelmed with population growth...and we can't keep up with required public infrastructure. Population grew by 60 million the past 20 years in the USA and almost 2 million in VA.
Go out to the formerly rural areas and see want's being paved over. What will our grandchildren do for food and drinking water in 40 years, when the U.S. population is increased by 100 - 120 million?
