Group Helping Wounded Warriors Seeks Volunteers to Gift Wrap

Volunteers are needed from Dec. 7 through Dec. 27 at the Fashion Centre at Pentagon City.

A group that helps wounded warriors is looking for volunteers this holiday season to wrap gifts for customers at the Fashion Centre at Pentagon City. “It’s been very helpful in helping us run the programs throughout the year,” said Michelle Humphries, founder and director of Arms Outstretched Ministry, a Stafford-based nonprofit. The group’s annual gift wrapping event, now in its fourth year, helps fund programs for those in the military and their families. The cost for giftwrapping services ranges anywhere from $4 to $10, and guests will often leave additional donations to help the group, Humphries said. USO Breaks Ground on Fort Belvoir Wounded Warrior Care Center

The facility kicks off the USO's $100 million Operation Enduring Care campaign.

The United Service Organizations (USO) broke ground Monday on Fort Belvoir’s Wounded Warrior and Family Care Center, a 25,000 square-foot facility that will help men and women injured in the line of duty with the difficult process of recovery. The center marks the launch of Operation Enduring Care, the USO’s $100 million campaign to support warriors and their families. Unlike Belvoir’s new $1 billion community hospital, the Warrior Transition Complex will be a non-critical care center designed to help assist with the transition from recovery to civilian life.
