Plus, a car on the W&OD trail and weirdness abounds in Virginia this week.
Editor's Note: Patch has 31 sites in Virginia and D.C., and not a day goes by that something weird isn't happening in at least one of them. Here's a look back at some weird goings on over the past week. ---- A goose, a pig, drinking games and a baby born in an unusual place top this week's weird Virginia news. A brush fire shut down Route 7 in Vienna/Tysons Corner. It was later determined the culprit was.... a goose! A goose flew into an electrical wire near Leesburg Pike and Gallows Road on Thursday, causing it to fall across Route 7 and start the small brush fire that shut down eastbound lanes near Gallows Road. Over in Chantilly, a pig was the star of the day at Poplar Tree Elementary. Principal Sharon Smith Williams will do anything it…

Clarendon Whole Foods customers can now enjoy draft beer at the "Arlington Pub." “We have a full service coffee bar, draft beer, and wines by the glass,” said Arlington Whole Foods Market marketing leader Jackie Zovko. “The beers are all local within a 200-mile radius.” The pub at the grocery at 2700 Wilson Blvd. hosted a “soft opening” last Friday. A full grand opening event will take place on Oct. 4, kicking off with “beer o’ clock.” “The representatives the beer companies will be pouring beer for food pairings and we will have a celebration in the café,” Zovko said. “We will have special happy hour prices and free coffee for one day.” Up to eight beers are available on draft at the café on the store’s second level. Police: Once in custody, man 'repeatedly' masturbated in interview room. The following arrest information was supplied by the Arlington County police department. It does not indicate a conviction.
Arlington County police say a 24-year-old Washington man sexually assaulted a female shopper in the Whole Foods Market in Clarendon this weekend. Frank Alex Bouknight has been arrested and charged with sexual battery, according to information police released this week. Bouknight is accused of putting his hand between a woman's legs and touching her genitalia when she bent down to get a bottle of wine shortly before 2 p.m. Sunday, police reported. "She was startled and turned around. And he was laughing," police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck said. The woman reported the incident to a manager, who followed the man outside and saw him get on a bus, Sternbeck said. He called police. Officers found the man about four hours later sleeping on a park…

Saeeda's Blooming Flowers placed second.
The Whole Foods in Clarendon received the most votes in this week's Readers' Choice contest to determine the best place to buy flowers in the Rosslyn-Ballston corridor. Hopefully, the low turnout isn't indicative of the number of people who plan to get their moms flowers on Mother's Day. Whole Foods won 42 percent of the vote, followed by Saeeda's Blooming Flowers (21 percent). Saeeda's had more positive reviews in Patch Places, but they didn't happen during the contest period. Looking for flowers outside the Rosslyn-Ballston corridor? Be sure to check out nearby Patches in Georgetown, Falls Church and Del Ray, which hosted their own Readers' Choice contests. Also: After extending the voting for a week, Crumbs and Rabbit Salad & Grill (…

Which florist/flower shop do you prefer in the Rosslyn-Ballston corridor?
Mother's Day will be here before you know it. And if you know what's good for you, you'll get mom flowers. She did, after all, spend years of her life trying to make sure you turned out OK. By all means, if your favorite isn't included, feel free to add it in the comments section below. And don't stop at our poll: Give your vote weight by adding a rating and review on Patch Places. Voting in the poll below is open until 9 a.m. Friday. Because this poll is not scientific, it's not the only consideration in choosing a winner. Each Patch editor …
