What would you want to see take the place of the recently closed Lime Fresh Mexican Grill in Clarendon?
Lime Fresh Mexican Grill’s location in Clarendon has closed. Ruby Tuesday, Inc., the company that owns the Lime Fresh chain, announced last week that they would be closing two Lime Fresh locations in the nation, one of which was the restaurant on 2900 Wilson Boulevard. In a statement about the restaurant’s latest earnings report, J.J. Buettgen, president and CEO of Ruby Tuesday, said that the Clarendon location was “determined to be outside our updated site selection criteria for the concept.” The statement also said that employees at the location may be offered jobs at other Lime Fresh or Ruby Tuesday locations. The athletic store closed its doors last week.
Lucy, the high-end athletic store, closed its Pentagon Row shopping center location recently. The store has several other locations in the D.C. area and nationwide. Locally, there are stores at Union Station, at Tysons Corner Center and at Fairfax Corner. In this new column, Patch wants your ideas for developing vacant spaces in Arlington.

Forget what zone it's in, ignore setback regulations, dump lot coverage rules and all the other zoning jargon. If you had your way, what would you like to see there? What would be the best use for the community? Last week, we asked you all what to do with the empty space that used to house the Market Tavern in Clarendon. "News Hound" commented, "How about something for regular people like a Dunkin Donuts. They have a cafe-style store type which …

In this new column, Patch wants your ideas for developing vacant spaces in Arlington.
By most measures, business is booming in Arlington. As County Board Chairman Mary Hynes said last month at the State of the County address, "If cranes are any measure of economic wealth…we’re doing pretty darn well." Here and there, though, there are a few empty spaces — maybe old parking lot that is undeveloped, a closed business that didn't quite make it. So what should be done? That's where you (and this new column) come in. Let's call this a modern spin on community planning—Patch's version of a charette, a digital drawing board where all ideas are on the table. Each week we'll present a new vacant building or an empty lot and ask you to tell us what you think would be the best use for it. Forget what zone it's in, ignore setback …
