Derek Warren Straughn, of Arlington, has been charged with malicious wounding, according to police.
A 57-year-old Arlington man allegedly stabbed another man when an argument got out of hand this weekend. Derek Warren Straughn has been charged with malicious wounding, according to the Arlington County Police Department. Straughn and the victim got into a verbal argument at about 8 p.m. Saturday outside of an apartment building in the 1200 block of South Courthouse Road, according to police. The argument escalated, and Straughn stabbed the victim, according to police. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. His injuries were not life threatening. Straughn is being held without bond.

A 32-year-old woman is accused of stabbing her boyfriend in the arm with a kitchen knife on New Year's Day, according to information the Arlington County Police Department released Wednesday. Griselda Y. Saravia, of Arlington, has been arrested and charged with unlawful wounding. Saravia got into a verbal argument with her boyfriend at 4:40 p.m. Tuesday in the 800 block of South Frederick Street, according to police. The argument escalated and authorities said Saravia stabbed her boyfriend before he was able to break free and call for help. The man was taken to Virginia Hospital Center for treatment of the stab wound. Saravia was released on recognizance with a $7,500 unsecured bond.

A man who attempted to stop someone from breaking into his car this week remained hospitalized Friday afternoon from stab wounds, and his attacker continued to elude police. A 31-year-old Montgomery Village man was in his Clarendon office Thursday afternoon when he looked out of the window and saw someone trying to break into his car, according to police. The car was in front of the Pio Pio restaurant at 3300 Wilson Blvd., near the 10th Street intersection. At about 1:38 p.m., the man confronted the would-be car thief. Words were exchanged, and the suspect ran across Wilson Boulevard. The car's owner chased him. A fight ensued, and at some point the suspect pulled out a knife.
