Restaurant will feature Virginia moonshines.
The Copperwood Tavern is slated to take the place of the former Bistro Bistro in Shirlington, according to DC Eater. Entrees will include roast chicken, steak, macaroni and cheese, corn casserole and seasonal vegetables. For brunch, Copperwood Tavern will search a seafood brunch. The restaurant will sell 24 craft beers, a large selection of whiskey and local Virginia moonshines, according to DC Eater. The Copperwood Tavern chef is the same as Irish Whiskey's, Sean McIntosh. The restaurant should open in August.

The biggest business news by far this past week was that Arlington’s own Ballston Common Mall could eventually be redeveloped into a mixed-use urban development with apartments, office space and retail. The new “Ballston Center” by Forest City Washington, would include “more street-facing store entrances, two-level storefronts and outdoor terraces,” Washington Business Journal reported. On the Arlington food front, Dishcrawl (sort of like a pub crawl, but with food) will make its debut in Shirlington in March. And Wilson Tavern had a re-opening celebration after renovations. Group invites foodies to inaugural event in Shirlington Village.
Dishcrawl is coming to Shirlington Village. Billed by organizers as "like a pub-crawl — for the gastronome," the Cupertino, Calif.-based startup is bringing its restaurant-hopping experience to Arlington in March. Slainte in Shirlington, as it is called, starts at 7 p.m. March 12, just a few days before St. Patrick's Day. Reservations are $45 per person. The idea is to take food lovers to four distinct restaurants in one night so they can meet, mingle and sample a variety of local specialities. The Vietnamese restaurant has opened at 4041 Campbell Ave.
Lotus Grill & Noodles, a fine-dining restaurant serving Vietnamese food, has opened in Shirlington Village. “We would like to bring specialty Vietnamese food to the community,” said owner Tony Nguyen, who opened the restaurant last week with his wife, Krista Bui. “There aren’t many Vietnamese places for fine dining.” Nguyen, who immigrated to the United States from Saigon in 1984, opened the business after being an electrical engineer. “I worked for the government for over 12 years and I wanted to change to another career,” he said. “I like to talk to people and meet people instead of just sitting in an office within the four walls.” Nguyen left his job in 2010 after first dipping his toes in the restaurant business as a partner in a …

The Board Hound in Shirlington will feature indoor and outdoor play areas plus heated and cooled floors.
A new business in Shirlington will offer man's best friends suites, condos and a rooftop play area for when their people are at work or out of town. The Board Hound, 3520 S. Four Mile Run Drive, will tentatively open the first week in January. It's been two years in the making, and General Manager Jessica Ward was excited to talk about the new venture. "Even as a kid, I would find stray dogs and always bring them home and be like, 'Dad, can we keep him?'" she said. An Arlington native, Ward and her four-legged friend Taz have been getting the final prep work done at the doggy daycare and boarding house. Signature Theatre kicks off new season with Open House and Whorehouse
When Signature Theatre hosts its annual open house Saturday, expect a few proud whores to show up. The open house is free and takes place from noon to 10 p.m. in front of Signature Theatre in Shirlington Village. The all-day event will feature master classes, discount ticket offers and “Signature Idol,” a talent competition. Among the many activities will be live performances, including cast members from the upcoming run of "The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas", which opens Aug. 14. When you see the poster for the show you immediately notice the word "whorehouse" emphasized. Back in March, Arlington County started engaging the public on the question of how Capital Bikeshare, or CaBi, should grow in the long term. After months of public input and feasibility studies, we now have a draft Transit Development Plan for CaBi. The point of the plan, as Arlington County described it, is to “systematically plan for service expansion and improvements in a strategic and fiscally realistic fashion.” With this in mind, the draft plan describes two expansion scenarios. The first is the “constrained expansion,” in which the number of new stations are limited to existing funding. Spokesman: Victim identified attacker to police.
Billy Lollar, 28, of Arlington, has been charged with indecent exposure after an incident in Shirlington this week. Shortly before 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, a woman leaving a parking garage in the 3000 block of South Randolph Street saw the man exposing himself to her, according to police. Lollar was about 15 to 20 feet away from her, police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck said. It isn't clear if the two know each other or had a prior relationship, he said. The woman entered an adjacent parking garage, called police and waited for officers to arrive. She identified Lollar to the officers, Sternbeck said. Lollar was released Wednesday after posting a $2,000 bond, according to the Arlington County Sheriff's Office.
