Rosslyn got yarn bombed this weekend, courtesy of the Guerrilla Stitch Brigade. The stitch brigade is made up of 100 volunteer knitters and crocheters from the area who spent 20 weeks this winter stitching together the pieces for the yarn bomb installation, according to a news release from the Rosslyn Business Improvement District. The art installation is on display on trees along Wilson Boulevard, between the Rosslyn Metro Station and the Artisphere cultural arts center at 1101 Wilson Blvd. More than 1,000 stitched geometric shapes cover the trees.

Residents will have a chance to give their input on the long-range plan for Rosslyn this week.
This week, Arlington County will host the latest in a series of community workshops designed to ‘Realize Rosslyn.' All events are free and open to the public. Like the workshops hosted in December, the sessions are intended to give the public a chance to share their input on the long-range plan for the urban center. See holiday lights turn on across 40 Rosslyn rooftops during annual event.
Watch 40 Rosslyn rooftops come to life Thursday night during the 19th Annual LIGHT UP Rosslyn. The occasion includes December favorites like music, hot chocolate, cookies, and the big event: Arlington officials flipping a giant light switch to turn on holiday lights on rooftops. The event benefits the homeless clients of the Arlington Street People’s Assistance Network (A-SPAN). The Rosslyn BID, which is sponsoring the LIGHT UP Rosslyn event, collected warm winter clothing for the group starting Nov. 7 and topping off Thursday. “Last year, we collected 59 ninety-gallon bags of clothing for A-SPAN,” said Cecilia Cassidy, executive director of the Rosslyn BID. “I hope the Rosslyn community will join us for this memorable celebration.” …

If you spend some time in Rosslyn this week, you may just stumble upon a group of poets, dancers, or writers. The performances are a preview to the SUPERNOVA project in June. It's hosted by the Rosslyn BID, or business improvement district, in partnership with the Pink Line Project, a D.C.-based organization that curates art events for the public. The SUPERNOVA project aims to bring performance art to public spaces in Rosslyn. “Performance art is something that is a relatively new thing in the art world. Owner: Landlord wanted more money for smaller space
After more than 24 years of bringing the flavor of New Mexico to Arlington, Rosslyn's beloved Santa Fe Cafe will close its doors at the end of October. As major office tenants move about, owner Kip Laramie faced a potentially smaller customer base, smaller space and higher costs to do business. Laramie, just a few years from retirement, had to make a hard decision. "I didn't decide it as much as it was decided for me," he said. Peter Greenwald, a senior advisor at the Penzance Cos., has been named president of the Rosslyn Business Improvement District. Greenwald, who will serve a two-year term as president, has served on the district's board of directors since 2006. Penzance has owned 1500 Wilson Blvd. since 2006 and this year acquired 1555 Wilson Blvd. "The transactional activity and the confidence of the investment community in Rosslyn signals its continuing and expanding preeminence in the metropolitan Washington region," Greenwald said in a statement.
