Todd predicts 2013 Virginia gubernatorial race between Cuccinelli and McAuliffe will be 'nasty.'
Arlington resident and NBC Chief White House Correspondent Chuck Todd said Friday that he wasn't looking forward to Ken Cuccinelli and Terry McAuliffe dominating Virginia's airwaves next year. He predicted the 2013 gubernatorial race would be "nasty." It'll likely be between Cuccinelli, a Republican and Virginia Attorney General, and McAuliffe, a McLean businessman and former Democratic National Committee chairman. "They're both going to see their path to victory as not being that other guy. And you know what kind of rhetoric" the two are capable of, Todd said. Arlington voters found long lines at precincts Tuesday morning.
Arlington voters were met with long lines this morning, followed by an afternoon lull that still left many waiting an hour to vote. “It’s impossible,” said Marcela Ayon, who was voting at the James at Riverhouse apartment building and polling station for the day in Pentagon City. “I live in the building so I thought I could get in and go.” The lines at the Riverhouse location went through the building’s basement level and wrapped around the facilities parking lot just after 8 this morning and continued through the early afternoon. President lobbies for $447 billion American Jobs Act in front of Key Bridge in Georgetown.
Speaking next to a giant American flag with the Key Bridge in the background Wednesday, President Barack Obama called on Congress to pass his $447 billion American Jobs Act swiftly. The speech comes just under two months after he initially proposed the act before both houses of Congress in September. "We've got to do something, because our businesses and our economy are already paying for it," Obama said to a crowd of 150 people, mostly construction workers and union members. Construction vehicles lined the Whitehurst Freeway near the Georgetown waterfront where the president spoke.
