What Time Are the Oscars On TV?

The 85th annual Academy Awards will air Sunday on ABC 7 WJLA — and you can tune in to Patch to chat live about the Oscar winners and the red carpet. (Don't worry: there's still time to catch Oscar nominated movies at a theater near you).

Hollywood glitz and glamour will step out to hit the red carpet Sunday night as the 85th annual Academy Awards take over Tinsel Town.  The annual Oscars, hosted this year by Seth MacFarlane, start with the red carpet at 7 p.m. on local affiliate ABC 7 WJLA. The awards will begin immediately after at 8:30 p.m.  See all Oscar nominees here. WJLA's Arch Campbell and Cynne Simpson will be covering the show live from Hollywood. Top Movie Trends and Takeaways of 2012

The great, the bizarre and the awful movie of 2012.

This year we saw superheroes, grown-up movies, genre mash-ups and cartoons scoring places at the top of the box office. Much was made about big flops, from the divisive John Carter and ridiculous Battleship, both of which starred the same unlucky actor. Summer Movie Season Starts Next Week

Hollywood rolls out its list of blockbusters with The Avengers.

A few sequels, one or two reboots, and Johnny Depp in weird costumes. The summer movie season is about to start. MTV is calling 2012 a nerdy movie summer, and also one of the biggest. Says MTV: It's a crowded landscape to be sure; you'll want to spend your hard-earned theatergoing cash wisely if you want to weed out the fantastic, can't-miss movies from the [ugly], must-miss ones.  Here's a few of the movies planned for the summer. Which ones excite you the most? Did we miss any? Tell us in the comments.

Review: Movies to Inspire You in the New Year

There's something for everyone in this mix of 'oldies but goodies' and new to theaters and DVD films.

First, let Cinema Siren end this year by thanking readers and sending out appreciation to you. You who have become so loyal and have taken my opinions and suggestions to heart. Some of you have come to visit my alter ego Leslie at ArtInsights in Reston just to say "Hi." How wonderful!   Moving on. Forget about the films of dark intensity members of the Academy tend to favor at Oscar time. There'll be plenty of those movies mentioned and recommended in January.   As the new year begins, take a moment, no matter how the year has been for you, to pat yourself on the back for still being here, and for all the good you've done. Remember, even if it wasn't one of your better years, it could always be worse. If it was particularly great, start …
