UPDATE: Driver Who Struck MPD Officer Charged with DUI

A police officer is in stable condition after being hit by an SUV while investigating a deadly crash.

Updated: Feb. 28 11:15 p.m. A Metropolitan Police Officer who was hit by an car on the Key Bridge Sunday night is in stable condition. The officer was on the scene of a deadly accident on the Key Bridge when he was struck by a vehicle. The driver who struck the officer has been charged with driving under the influence.  The officer was hit from behind and thrown into the vehicle's windshield; he was briefly unconscious. He was transported to George Washington University. The driver of the vehicle stayed on the scene and was later charged. The driver in the hit-and-run accident has also been found and charged with driving under the influence.
