First, let Cinema Siren end this year by thanking readers and sending out appreciation to you. You who have become so loyal and have taken my opinions and suggestions to heart. Some of you have come to visit my alter ego Leslie at ArtInsights in Reston just to say "Hi." How wonderful! Moving on. Forget about the films of dark intensity members of the Academy tend to favor at Oscar time. There'll be plenty of those movies mentioned and recommended in January. Arlington Independent Media screens local documentary,"Every Other Day is Halloween," tonight at 8 p.m.
Tonight at the Artisphere, Arlington Independent Media is hosting a movie night to screen C.W. Prather's documentary "Every Other Day is Halloween." "We are working with Arlington Cultural Affairs and curating a Wednesday night film series to screen in the Dome Theater at Artisphere," said Ned Dickert, AIM communications director. "Every Other Day is Halloween" is the first of the Wednesday night film series. New venue is a big hit with film fans
The Dome Theater at Artisphere, the new cultural center in Rosslyn, was getting a big thumbs-up from audiences yesterday at the 20th annual Rosebud Film and Video Festival. "This is an absolutely awesome facility," said Jerry Barney, an Arlington resident who was at the festival. He added, "I have seen seven or eight of the films and I would have a hard time picking out the best." Sydney-Chanele Dawkins, a festival producer and film curator said, "One of the things that is great about this festival is that it highlights the work of local filmmakers."
