Arlington police released a video of a recent robbery at the Fashion Centre at Pentagon City.
The Arlington County Police Department has released surveillance video of thieves making away with more than $600,000 worth of Rolex watches. Police say four men entered Tourneau, a high-end watch store, on Tuesday. One of the men used a hammer to smash open the cases while the others grabbed the Rolex watches. The store will reopen.
Forever 21 has closed temporarily in the Fashion Centre at Pentagon City. The exterior of the store was shut off entirely Monday morning. It is unclear when the store closed, but a sign posted on boards covering the store’s windows read: “We are temporarily closed. Sorry for the inconvenience. We will reopen with a bigger and better store soon. Thank you.” Mall representatives were not immediately available for comment. Ann Taylor, Aldo, and Sephora are all being renovated as well. Sephora is the only store at the Fashion Centre still open for business while their store is being renovated.

Starting Friday, get your photo taken with the Easter Bunny in Arlington.
The Easter Bunny will be available for photos at the Fashion Centre at Pentagon City starting Friday. The photos sessions will last through March 30 on the ground level of the mall, at 1100 S. Simon Property Group may be considering residences and more for a revitalized Fashion Centre at Pentagon City.
Call 2013 the year of the shopping mall renaissance in Arlington: The Fashion Centre at Pentagon City is slated to undergo renovations that could include the addition of residences or office space, according to mall owner Simon Property Group. Just last week, Forest City Washington revealed plans to redevelop Ballston Common Mall. Simon Property Group spokesman Les Morris did not give any specific information about the Pentagon City mall, but told Washington Business Journal in an interview, “Fashion Centre at Pentagon City is one of our top-performing properties, so obviously it’s part of the mix (of planned renovations).” The Fashion Centre at Pentagon City was built in 1989 and renovated in 2002. A Great Wraps restaurant is opening in the food court at the Fashion Centre at Pentagon City. A large sign in the food court indicates that the restaurant is opening soon. Mall officials would not comment on when the restaurant would actually be opening. The business, which is headquartered in Atlanta, serves a variety of wraps including buffalo style, chipotle, and jalapeno ranch chicken, according to its website. The robbery took place on Valentine's Day, according to police.
A juvenile tried to steal a ring from a kiosk at the Fashion Centre at Pentagon City on Valentine’s Day, Arlington police report. At 7 p.m. at the mall, which is on South Hayes Street, the owner of the kiosk noticed someone trying to steal rings, according to the Arlington County Police Department. When the owner confronted the juvenile, the subject struck the victim in the face. The subject and victim remained at the mall until police came. The victim reported minor injuries, and one of the rings were recovered, according to police. The juvenile, whose name is not being released by police, was arrested on robbery charges.

The robbery at the Fashion Centre at Pentagon City took place Monday morning.
Robbers got away with 27 rings totaling $128,000 in a smash and grab robbery at the Zales jewelry store at the Fashion Centre at Pentagon City Mall Monday, according to police. Authorities released a video of the robbery Tuesday morning. Robbers entered the store at 11:04 a.m. Monday and were in and out within 20 to 30 seconds, said Arlington County Police Department spokesman Dustin Sternbeck. Four men entered the store wearing hoods over their heads and a mask or clothing covering their faces. The men started striking the glass of a display case, Sternbeck said. “It took them 15 to 20 whacks of the hammer to gain access to the jewelry,” Sternbeck said. The men grabbed the rings and fled to a parking garage on the top level of the mall. …

The high-end kitchen retailer has closed its store at the Fashion Centre at Pentagon City.
Williams-Sonoma closed its retail store at the Pentagon City mall recently. The store was located between Ann Taylor and Aldo Shoes, a few spots down from Macy's on the first floor of the Fashion Centre at Pentagon City. The high-end kitchen retailer's store in Clarendon, at 2700 Clarendon Blvd., remains open. Williams-Sonoma also has stores on South Washington Street in Alexandria and at Tysons Corner. Williams-Sonoma was founded in 1956 and has more than 250 stores nationwide. No word yet on what may take the store's spot at the Pentagon City mall. Hopefuls lined up at 6 a.m. in the hopes of becoming America's Next Top Model.
Aspiring models turned up at the Fashion Centre at Pentagon City as early as 6 a.m. Saturday for the chance to be on America's Next Top Model. The CW's reality show is the brainchild of former supermodel Tyra Banks. The show puts aspiring models in a bootcamp of sorts with other competitors who all are vying for a modeling contract. For the first time in the competition, male models will be included in the 20th season. Tryouts for the reality show competition will take place at the Fashion Centre at Pentagon City.
Do you have what it takes to be America’s Next Top Model? Because on Saturday, auditions will take place at the Fashion Centre at Pentagon City for the CW show’s 20th season, or “cycle” in the program’s lingo. Typically, about 300 to 400 people show up for tryouts, said Jim Byrne, production director for WDCW-TV/DC50, the local CW affiliate that is hosting the casting call. For the first time in the show’s history, male models will be included in the competition. While the show’s star judge and creator Tyra Banks won’t be at Saturday’s tryouts, contestants will be recorded doing “the walk” — and maybe smizing — and will have their measurements taken down, Byrne said.
