Car Explosion Not Considered Suspicious

The explosion that occurred on 9th St S. in the Penrose neighborhood was an accident, according to Arlington Police.

A rush hour explosion that rocked the Penrose neighborhood is being investigated as an accident. A white, four door BMW with a mangled trunk area was visible on the scene. No injuries were reported at the site of the explosion - 9th St South between Veitch St and Courthouse Rd. “We don’t believe there was any criminal intent,” said Arlington Police Detective Crystal Nosal over the phone.
