Police: Man Charged with Strangling Girlfriend During Fight

William Kennedy, of Arlington, is being held without bond.

A 53-year-old Arlington man has been charged with strangling his girlfriend during a domestic dispute. Between 8 and 9:15 p.m. Sunday, William Kennedy and his girlfriend were arguing over Kennedy's son, police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck said. The two were at Kennedy's apartment on the 2300 block of South 24th Road when the argument escalated into a physical altercation, Sternbeck said. During the fight, Kennedy choked the woman and wouldn't let her leave the apartment, according to police. He also allegedly prevented her from calling 911. Police eventually were called and the woman was taken to a nearby hospital where she was treated for non-life threatening injuries and released. Updated: Alexandria Woman Reports Sexual Assault Near Rosslyn Metro

Victim said she was also robbed in Saturday incident on North Moore Street.

An Alexandria woman walking near the Rosslyn Metro Station early Saturday reported being sexually assaulted, according to information police released this week. The woman, whose age has not been released, was leaving Washington and was dropped off at the station by a taxi. She entered the Metro station, but soon left after deciding she didn't want to wait for the next train, Arlington police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck said. Shortly after 2 a.m., the woman was walking along the 1700 block of North Moore Street when an unknown man grabbed her and pulled her into an alleyway against her will, Sternbeck said. Crime Report: Laptops Stolen from a Business

The following incidents were reported by the Arlington County Police Department from Sept. 6 through Wednesday. Top stories: Clarendon/Courthouse/Rosslyn area: Burglary Laptops were stolen from a business sometime between 9 p.m. on Sept. 5 and 8:20 a.m. on Sept. 7. The business is located on the 2200 block of N. Clarendon Blvd., police said. Burglary Someone stole items from inside of a vehicle sitting in an impound lot. The burglary occurred between 5 p.m. on Sept. 3 and 8 a.m. on Sept. 4 on the 4200 block of S. 29th St., police said. Crime Report: Boy Robbed at Gunpoint

The following incidents were reported by the Arlington County Police Department from Aug. 30 through Wednesday. Armed Robbery A child waiting for his mother to pick him up was robbed at gunpoint by a person in a black four-door sedan at about 8:40 a.m. on Saturday, according to police. The incident took place in the 2800 block of North Harrison Street. The robber was wearing a red bandana and had short dreadlocks. Robbery A man threw his ex-wife to the ground, punched her and took her cell phone before fleeing the area, according to police. The following incidents were reported by the Arlington County Police Department from Aug. 23 through 29. Robbery A victim was pushed to the ground and robbed of beer at about 10 p.m. on Aug. 24 in the 1100 block of South George Mason Drive, according to police. The suspect is described as about 6 foot, 2 inches tall, with a thin build and about 35 years old. Robbery Robbers stole a person's cash, debit card and cell phone at 12:20 a.m. on Aug. 26 in the 900 block of South Wakefield Street, according to police. Crime Report: Condoms, Cigars Stolen in Gas Station Theft, Police Say

The following incidents were reported by the Arlington County Police Department from Aug. 16 through Aug. 22. Burglary Police saw two men breaking into a gas station and taking condoms, cigars, cigarettes, and lighters on Aug. 17. Authorities reported that the officers witnessed the crime between 12:45 a.m. and 1:15 a.m from a parking lot across the street from the gas station on the 2400 block of N. Lee Highway. Camron David Rashed, 20, who has no fixed address, and Elmer Randall, 25, of Arlington, were arrested and charged with burglary, petit larceny and possession of burglarious tools, police said. Police: Man Brandishes Weapon in Watch Theft

The following incidences were reported to the Arlington County Police Department from Aug. 9 through Aug. 15. Robbery by Force A man reportedly brandished a knife after being caught trying to take several watches from a store, according to police. The loss prevention manager of the store on the 1200 block of S. Hayes St. told police the robber entered the store at 4:25 p.m. August 11 and that the man started stealing watches from an accessories stand. When approached by the manager, the robber brandished a knife, threatened the employee and fled, police said. The robber wore a grey polo shirt, jeans, and a white baseball hat.
