Police: Ice Rink Credit Card Thief Could Have More Victims

Barry Fig has been charged in Fairfax County and Montgomery County, Md.

Arlington County police say a man charged with credit card theft in Fairfax County and Montgomery County, Md., may have more victims in Arlington and are asking them to come forward. Barry Jason Fig was charged with five counts of felony credit card theft in March, according to Arlington police. The thefts occurred at the Kettler Capitals Iceplex in Ballston. Fig allegedly would enter unattended locker rooms and steal items from various equipment bags left there by recreational hockey players, according to police. He would then use them at retail stores, authorities say. Upon his arrest, police found several credit cards in Fig's possession that didn't belong to him — many belonged to victims from Kettler and other area ice rinks, …

Air Force Sex Assault Prevention Chief Charged With Sexual Battery

Arlington police arrested Lt. Col. Jeffrey Krusinski early Sunday in Crystal City.

The chief of the U.S. Air Force Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Branch has been charged with sexual battery. Lt. Col. Jeffrey Krusinski, 41, of Arlington, was removed from that position Monday afternoon, Air Force spokeswoman Jennifer Cassidy told Patch. Krusinski, who worked out of the Pentagon, was charged this weekend by the Arlington County Police Department. At about 12:35 a.m. Sunday, a drunken Krusinski approached a woman in a parking lot in the 500 block of South 23rd Street and grabbed her breasts and buttocks, according to Arlington police. The woman fought him off as he tried to touch her again, according to police, at which point she was able to call for help. He was arrested and held on a $5,000 unsecured bond. …

Ballston BB&T Heist: Police Ask Public for Assistance Finding Robber

The man got away with an undisclosed amount of cash.

A robbery occured this morning at a BB&T bank in the 900 block of North Taylor Street in Ballston, according to the Arlington County Police Department. "The subject entered the bank and approached a teller with a hand-written note demanding money. After receiving a sum of money, the suspect fled the scene on foot," according to police. Police have not said how much money was taken. Investigators describe the robber as a 5-foot-7 man with a medium build. He was wearing a dark green trench coat, khaki pants, a red scarf and a Boston Red Sox baseball hat. He also wore glasses and had facial hair. Police have released a still from surveillance footage. County Disciplines Employees, Restructures Senior Travel Program

Arlington police and the Commonwealth's Attorney's Office found no criminal activity or intent, county officials say.

Arlington County announced this week that it had restructured a popular senior travel program in the wake of problems caused by lax oversight — including employees maintaining independent bank accounts for the program that were not subject to county auditing or financial controls. “The Senior Travel Program is a very successful program that unfortunately, cut corners in its operations,” Arlington County Manager Barbara Donnellan said in a statement. The county found out about the accounts in November 2010 and subsequently coordinated an investigation with the Arlington County Police Department and the local Commonwealth's Attorney's Office. Police: Man Strangles Ex-Girlfriend, Steals Dog in Clarendon

Victim was walking alone late at night, according to police.

A 24-year-old Hyattsville, Md., man has been accused of strangling his ex-girlfriend and stealing her dog in the Clarendon-Courthouse neighborhood of Arlington. Jonathan Jimenez has been arrested and charged with strangulation, attempted malicious wounding, grand larceny, and domestic assault and battery, according to the Arlington County Police Department. He is being held without bond. At about 12:15 a.m. Tuesday, a woman reportedly was walking her dog, a Chihuahua, in the 2400 block of North 11th Street near Rocky Run Park. Arlington Police Seek Info on Two Women Suspected in Theft

Arlington police are seeking the public’s help in finding two women wanted for larceny.  The incident took place on March 1 at South Moon Under on the 2700 block of Clarendon Boulevard, according to the Arlington County Police Department. One of the suspected burglars is a woman in her 20s, about 5 foot 9, 150 pounds with blond hair, according to Arlington County police officials. She wore a jean jacket and white shirt at the time of the incident. Crime Report: Man Accused of Pointing Gun at Victim Outside Home

Brandishing a firearm A 28-year-old man is accused brandished a gun at a victim outside a home, according to the Arlington County Police Department. Police say that on 8:52 p.m. on April 18, a victim was held at gunpoint outside a home in the 3400 block of South 25th Street. The victim immediately ran away from the man and called police. Officers found and arrested Brian Antonio Williams, of Arlington, a short distance away. He was charged with brandishing a firearm within 1,000 feet of a school and felony possession of a firearm. Arlington's community policing effort will continue unhindered. Elected officials rejected a number of proposed cuts this week as they finalized Arlington County's $1.1 billion budget for next fiscal year, which begins July 1. The Arlington County Board formally approved the spending plan Saturday morning.
