Clarendon restaurants Liberty Tavern, Northside Social among winners in 17 categories.
The people have spoken, and they've chosen Clarendon's own Northside Social and Liberty Tavern as some the best of the best in the 2012 People's Choice ABBIE Awards. Winners were announced Tuesday at the Arlington County Board's recessed meeting for November. Arlington Economic Development received more than 1,100 nominations for businesses in 17 "best of" categories, spokeswoman Cara O'Donnell told the board. More than 5,000 people cast ballots. Many of the categories were hotly contested, O'Donnell said. One big winner was the partnership that owns the trio of Clarendon eateries that includes Northside Social, Liberty Tavern and Lyon Hall. Online voting now open.
Arlingtonians can cast their vote for their favorite local businesses starting now. The 2012 People’s Choice ABBIE Awards, presented by Arlington Economic Development, give awards in 17 categories, including best restaurant, best boutique and best nonprofit. Voting is open through Nov. 9. Voting is tracked via IP address; only one vote per IP address will be counted. Nominations for businesses were culled online, with more then 1,100 votes cast for companies up for consideration. Read the full list of nominees and categories here. Nominations are now open for Arlington County’s annual People’s Choice ABBIE Awards. The awards, sponsored by the Arlington Economic Development Council, highlight local businesses in categories including “Best Customer Service” and “Best Place to Take a Date.” Nominations are open from Sept. 12 through Oct. 3 in 17 categories. All entries are submitted online. Only one vote will be counted per IP address.
