The US Department of Defense American Battle Monuments Commission is located on Clarendon Blvd., just a couple of blocks from the Court House metro station. Established in 1923, the commission maintains and oversees 25 memorials and cemeteries domestically and internationally. It also maintains a database of casualties from World War 1, World War 2 and the Korean War. Every year events are held on Memorial Day and D-Day.
