3. Handel's Messiah at The Kennedy Center

Where/When: 2700 F St. NW, Washington. Thursday, 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 8 p.m. Sunday, 1 p.m.

Why Go: According to The Kennedy Center website, "Continue a Christmas tradition with Handel's epic masterpiece, Messiah, conducted by Matthew Halls and performed with holiday spirit by the NSO, acclaimed guest singers, and the University of Maryland Concert Choir."

Pricing: Tickets range in price from $20 to $85.

Where/When: 1680 Wisconsin Ave. NW, Washington. Sunday, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Why Go: "The office would like to thank the local community for their business support while also collecting toys for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves' Toys for Tots Campaign.  Yoy are invited to stop by the office with an unwrapped toy or book and enjoy some holiday treats and drinks.  Students from the Duke Ellington School of Arts are contributing to the holiday festivities with caroling and musical instruments."

Pricing: Free to attend. Unwrapped gift donations for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves' Toys for Tots Campaign appreciated.

Where/When: More than 50 Georgetown stores are participating in Merriment this year, which lasts through Dec. 20.

Why Go: Pampering stations at select stores. Hot chocolate while you shop. $2 parking. Free Sprinkles mini cupcakes. Need we say more. If you're intrigued, be sure to visit the Merriment website.
