Washington Nationals Host ALS Awareness Night

Each ticket purchase includes $8 donation to the ALS Association's Washington, Maryland and Virginia chapter.

The Washington Nationals are teaming up with a nonprofit dedicated to fighting and raising awareness of Lou Gehrig's disease.

The team is hosting ALS Awareness Night starting at 7:05 p.m. Friday with the first pitch of a home game against the Colorado Rockies.

Tickets are $16. Each purchase includes an $8 donation to the ALS Association's Washington, Maryland and Virginia chapter.

A person living with Lou Gehrig's disease will be on the field for the first pitch, and members of the ALS Association will be available to answer questions about the local chapter.

Nationals' third baseman Ryan Zimmerman will receive the Lou Gehrig Memorial Award for his community service, according to a news release.
