Arlington, GWU Celebrate New Baseball Field in Barcroft

George Washington University Colonials will continue to use field for practice, home games.

Recently Arlington County opened the renovated baseball field at Barcroft Park that will be the home of the George Washington University men's baseball team for the foreseeable future.

The field, one of three county-owned, 90-foot baseball diamonds, is the first synthetic turf baseball field in Arlington County.

"This is really sort of groundbreaking for us, because we'll be able to have kids play on here all year round," Arlington Parks and Recreation Director Jane Rudolph says in the clip. "…It's a rare treat for kids in Arlington to be able to play on an NCAA field."

George Washington University has supported the park for 20 years and paid for the renovations.

Th GW Colonials will continue to use the field for games and practices and pay for a portion of maintenance costs.

The university uses the field from September to November for practices and from February to May for practices and regular season home games.
