Arlington Teacher, Volunteer Named 'Connect with Kids Champions'

Anne Malleck, Bob Bigney are award winners.

An Arlington teacher and a volunteer were recently named Connect with Kids Champions.

Long Branch Elementary School English as a Second Language teacher Anne Malleck and Carlin Springs Elementary School volunteer Bob Bigney are the winners.

The honors are distributed by the Arlington Partnership for Children, Youth and Families. The award winners are those who “are making a difference in the lives of Arlington youth,” according to a news release from Arlington Public Schools.

Malleck takes the time in her classroom to help students get along with each other by hosting morning meetings to speak about good peer relations, according to the release.

Coach Bigney, who is the technical director for the Arlington Soccer Association, takes time to volunteer at Carlin Springs to host lunchtime soccer for the students.

The two were recognized at an Arlington Public Schools board meeting this month.
