Water Main Break Closes Road

A water main break on 19th Street between North Lynn Street and North Kent Street has shut down that thoroughfare during evening rush hour.

Dave Hundelt, the chief operating engineer for Arlington County's Water, Sewer and Streets Bureau, said the road above the water main buckled at approximately 11 a.m. on Friday. As of 4:30 p.m., the source of the leak had not been located.

The section of 19th Street will remain closed through the evening rush hour as crews work to find the leak and repair the pavement, Hundelt said.

"We don’t expect to open the street until sometime later this evening," he said.

The closure could cause minor traffic delays.
