Public Hearings on Arlington County Budget Tuesday, Thursday

Tuesday's hearing is on the proposed 2012-13 budget; Thursday's, on the proposed tax rate.

The Arlington County Board will hold a public hearing on its proposed 2012-13 budget at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The hearing will be in the board room on the third floor of the county administration building at 2100 Clarendon Blvd.

County Manager Barbara Donnellan's includes a half-cent tax increase and funds several new facilities, increases county employee compensation and fully restores library branch hours that were cut in 2009. Under this plan, the average Arlington homeowner would their annual tax bill increase to $6,619.

The board, though, has advertised . If the board agrees to the maximum amount, that would cause the average homeowner's yearly tax bill to jump to $6,723.

A separate public hearing on the tax rate will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday.
