Patch, Arlington Independent Media to Host Candidate Forum

Forum features Democratic candidates seeking their party's nomination for the vacant seat on the Arlington County Board.

Patch and Arlington Independent Media will host a candidate forum this week for the five Democrats seeking their party's nomination for the vacant seat on the Arlington County Board.

Later this month, the Arlington County Democratic Committee will hold a caucus open to all registered voters in the county. Following party rules, the caucus will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Jan 19 at Washington-Lee High School, and from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Jan. 21 at Kenmore Middle School.

Voters who declare themselves Democrats will choose between: Melissa Bondi, a member of the Arlington Economic Development Commission; Peter Fallon, a member of the Arlington Planning Commission; Libby Garvey, an Arlington School Board member; Kim Klingler, a volunteer first responder and a health care IT consultant; and Terron Sims, a West Point graduate and project coordinator for an IT government contractor.

The winner will move on to the March 27 special election, and will likely face Green Party candidate Audrey Clement. So far, no Republican candidates have declared their intention to run for the seat left open by Barbara Favola's ascension to the state Senate.

The hour-long Patch/Arlington Independent Media forum will be filmed Thursday at the station's studio.
