Arlington County PLACE Open House

From Arlington County:

"Arlington County Government, together with more than two dozen civic groups, will this week host the kick-off Open House of PLACE (Participation, Leadership and Civic Engagement), the County's ambitious initiative to broaden civic engagement in Arlington.

PLACE seeks to better engage more groups and individuals in the decison-making processes that shape our community. The effort is coupled with an initiative by County Manager Barbara Donnellan to improve staff training and develop civic engagement performance expectations for key County staffers.

Join County Board Chair Mary Hynes, members of the County Board, County Manager Barbara Donnellan and hundreds of representatives of a broad array of Arlington community organizations on Thursday, March 15 and Saturday, March 17 to launch PLACE.

The kick-off will include 90-minute small-group discussions about improving civic engagement in Arlington, and a community mapping exercise aimed at building a database of civic groups that will help better-connect individuals to each other and County government to the community."
