Arlington County Manager Barbara Donnellan has named Cynthia Richmond acting director of Arlington Economic Development. Richmond, 58, takes over after the sudden death Saturday of Arlington Economic Development Director Terry Holzheimer. Richmond has served as deputy director of AED since 2005.

"Cindy worked with Terry Holzheimer for years – first in Loudoun County, when Terry was their director of economic development, and then here," Donnellan said in a news release. "She brings to the job a wealth of experience in economic development, and a deep understanding of Arlington's civic and business culture. I look forward to working with her to continue the excellent work that AED did under Terry's leadership."
