Arlington County Zoning Administrator Submits Resignation

Artman leaving in August to attend Virginia Theological Seminary.

Arlington County Zoning Administrator Melinda Artman has submitted her resignation effective Aug. 12.

She is leaving to attend Virginia Theological Seminary. County officials say they will name an acting administrator soon.

Artman has been a planner for 37 years, including 25 in Northern Virginia. She took the Arlington position in June 2008.

In a prepared statement, Arlington County Department of Community Planning, Housing and Development Robert Brosnan called Artman “a dedicated and talented public servant.”

“(Artman) arrived in Arlington at a time when the Zoning Office was beginning a transformation into a higher performing organization and she has helped shape the office and the work of the staff in a very positive way,” Brosnan stated.
