WUSA: Fire Department Invites Bryce Harper to Join Force
The Washington Nationals outfielder recently said if he hadn't become a baseball player, he would have liked to be a firefighter.
The Cherrydale Fire Department in Arlington isn't suggesting that Bryce Harper quit his day job with the Washington Nationals.
But they are inviting him to join the all-volunteer force, WUSA reports.
The 19-year-old all-star outfielder recently said he'd like to pursue a career as an EMT during the off-season.

"I'd probably be a firefighter. Ever since I was growing up, I wanted to be a firefighter or a baseball player. Going into the offseason, I'm going to get my EMT and do the firefighting thing so I have something to fall back on." (Source: Curly W blog)
The Cherrydale Department issued an open invitation to Harper via its website:

"Recognizing Mr. Harper's inner calling as something more than just a savvy PR move, the Cherrydale Volunteer Fire Department invites Bryce Harper, and any other Nat who'd like to come to check out the fire service in the offseason. We'll look forward to seeing you at our November meeting."
According to USA Today, Harper lives in Pentagon City.
