Robbers Steal Bike, Helmet from Commuter

The incident took place on Tuesday.

Authorities say a man on his way home from work was approached by two men wearing ski masks who stole his bike, helmet and keys.

The man was approached at 12:15 a.m. Tuesday in the 2100 block of Lee Highway, according to the Arlington County Police Department.

The robbers assaulted the cyclist and fled in a dark-colored truck. Police say the victim’s belongings were found in the woods not far from where the robbery took place.

One suspect is described as being 5 feet, 11 inches tall and 150 pounds, and the second suspect is described as 5 feet, 9 inches tall and 150 pounds.

I am not surprised. Elsewhere there is a lot of criminal activity involving bicycles.

I WISH they would have done that to me. My U-lock would have made an indention on both their heads!

Gang members using bicycles to help to commit crimes are a huge problem in Rust Belt cities. Arlington really doesn't know what it's getting into by massively promoting bicycles.

Yeah, I suppose the real problem here is Arlington's promotion of bicycles. :)
