Police: Woman Jumps to Death in Ballston

A witness called 911 shortly before 2 p.m., spokesman said.

Arlington police are investigating a suspected suicide in Ballston after a woman jumped from the rooftop of an apartment building Wednesday afternoon.

The woman landed on a car and was pronounced dead when emergency responders arrived on the scene in the 4000 block of 9th Street North.

"We're still on the scene," police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck told Patch. "Right now, it appears to be a suicide. We're canvassing the area for any witnesses."

Sternbeck was not sure how tall the building in question was or if investigators had identified the victim yet.

Police received a 911 call about the matter shortly before 2 p.m., he said.
