Police: Two Men Charged in Suspected Meth Lab Bust

Two men were charged with attempting to manufacture methamphetamine after police were called to an Arlington apartment Monday night.

It started at about 9:30 p.m. Monday when police were called to Virginia Square Plaza Apartments, 801 N. Monroe St., in relation to a domestic dispute, said Detective Chris Feltman of the Arlington County Police Department.

Police found items on the scene that were “consistent with that of the manufacturing methamphetamine,” Feltman said.

Officers called the Arlington County Fire Department’s hazmat team and bomb squad to investigate the suspected meth lab.

Three floors of the building were evacuated while fire and police investigators looked inside. Fire officials stayed on the scene until about 1 a.m., said Arlington County Fire Department Capt. Gregg Karl.

“Once the fire department deemed it safe, the police executed a search warrant. Two occupants were arrested for attempted manufacture of methamphetamine,” Feltman said.

Leonard Fischer, 44, and William Hudgens, 31, have each been charged with attempted manufacturing of methamphetamine, according to Feltman and a police news release.

Fischer is being held on a $10,000 secured bond; Hudgens, on a $2,000 secured bond, Arlington County Sheriff's Office Maj. Susie Doyel stated in an email to Patch.

The police investigation is ongoing, Feltman said. Tenants in the apartment building have since been allowed back inside.
