Police: Man Severely Burned During Workplace Argument

Man pours boiling water onto colleague after fight escalates.

Two men got into an argument Wednesday morning, which ended with one pouring a bucket of boiling water onto the other, according to information the Arlington County Police Department released today.

James Anthony Muse, 55, of Arlington, was arrested and charged with malicious wounding. He is being held without bond.

Muse is accused of pouring boiling water on another man after a verbal argument escalated early Wednesday. The two began arguing while at work in the 4300 block of North Wilson Boulevard at about 7 a.m. Wednesday.

As the dispute escalated, Muse allegedly began punching the other man and then pouring the scalding water on him — causing second-degree burns on the victim's face, back and chest.

Another employee separated the two men, and police were called. The victim was taken to Medstar, where he was treated for burns.

Police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck said he did not know what the two men were arguing over. The two have been known to "frequently engage in disputes in the workplace," he said.

The victim was expected to be released Wednesday afternoon. Sternbeck did not know if that actually happened.
