Police: Man Impersonates Officer During Traffic Stop

Impersonating an Officer

A 38-year-old medical assistant is accused of impersonating a police officer, according to the Arlington County Police Department.

Hussein Al-Rehaief, of Sterling, claimed he was an officer when he was pulled over during a traffic stop, police reported.

Al-Rehaief was pulled over at 10:38 p.m. Saturday in the 1000 block of North Irving Street, according to police. Police said he claimed to be an officer and displayed a badge during the traffic stop.

Further questioning uncovered that he was impersonating an officer, police said. Al-Rehaief was charged with impersonating a police officer and failure to obey a highway sign. He was released on a summons.

Burglary

A woman’s purse was stolen off her kitchen counter, according to police.

Police reported that between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Sunday, the woman was outside her home in the 1900 block of South Hayes Street gardening and left her purse behind. It was gone by the time she got back.

Equipment was stolen from a construction site between 6:30 p.m. on April 8 and 6 a.m. Tuesday in the 4000 block of North Wilson Street, according to police. Equipment was stolen from four different companies.

Several items, including cash, jewelry and a camera, were reported stolen from a home, according to police. The items were taken sometime between 7 a.m. and 6:20 p.m. Tuesday from the 1400 block of North Quinn Street.
