Arlington police are looking for an older man who they say exposed himself to a woman this weekend on the patio of a Clarendon restaurant.
The man is in his mid-60s with shoulder-length white hair, according to police. Investigators so far are not sure if the person they are looking for was involved in .
At about 6 p.m. Wednesday, the man was sitting by himself at a table on the patio of a restaurant in the 3200 block of Wilson Boulevard, according to information police released this week.
He was "intently staring" at a woman seated at a nearby table with her friends, police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck said.
The woman saw him and noticed that he was exposing himself to her under the table, Sternbeck said.
"He wasn't verbally saying anything, but through his actions he was making it clear it wasn't accidental," Sternbeck said.
The woman told her friends, and the man left. On Friday, she reported it to police.
Sternbeck would not name the restaurant where the incident reportedly happened. The 3200 block of Wilson Boulevard is between Washington and 10th Street North.
Given a recent uptick in indecent exposure and sexual assault cases, police have made regular pleas to anyone who thinks they may have witnessed or been the victim of a crime to report that immediately.
"It's frustrating to us that victims don't think to call police as their immediate action," Sternbeck said. "If you call police immediately, the chances of apprehending that suspect increases significantly."
