Police: Man Brandishes Weapon in Watch Theft

The following arrest information was supplied by the Arlington County police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The following incidences were reported to the Arlington County Police Department from Aug. 9 through Aug. 15.

Robbery by Force

A man reportedly brandished a knife after being caught trying to take several watches from a store, according to police. The loss prevention manager of the store on the 1200 block of S. Hayes St. told police the robber entered the store at 4:25 p.m. August 11 and that the man started stealing watches from an accessories stand. When approached by the manager, the robber brandished a knife, threatened the employee and fled, police said. The robber wore a grey polo shirt, jeans, and a white baseball hat.

Burglary

A woman reported cash and a laptop missing from her home on the 1700 block of S. Taylor St. at about noon Aug. 10. The woman told authorities that the home was broken into on August 4.

Burglary

A safe was reportedly stolen from a home on the 2400 block of N. Florida St. between 6 p.m. on Aug. 10 and 10 a.m. on Aug. 11. The safe included jewelry and other items, the owner told police.

Burglary

A burglars or burglar stole cash, laptops, blank prescription pads, and sample prescriptions from a locked office on the 1600 block of N. George Mason Drive sometime between 7:15 p.m. on Aug. 8 and 7:51 a.m. on Aug. 9, police said.

Burglary

Someone kicked open the front door of a business on the 2400 block of Wilson Boulevard the morning of Aug. 12, police said. Two laptops and store surveillance equipment were taken.

Burglary

A rear glass door of a restaurant was smashed and a cash register drawer with $3,000 inside was stolen on Aug. 13, police said. The restaurant on the 5000 block of Wilson Boulevard was broken into sometime between 12:30 a.m. and 9:55 a.m.
