Police Look for Peeping Tom in Clarendon

A peeping Tom was reported at a bookstore in Clarendon Friday night, according to information Arlington County police released this week.

Shortly before 8 p.m. Friday, a woman saw a man peeping over the bathroom stall at her while she was in the women's restroom, according to police.

The woman told the store manager, who called 911. The man ran away.

Police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck would say only that the incident occurred at a bookstore in the 2800 block of Clarendon Boulevard, thought the only such store in that area is the Barnes & Noble at the Market Common Clarendon.

No one was injured. Police are waiting for a regional manager to provide surveillance video if it is available, Sternbeck said.

The man was described as being in his 40s with shaggy brown hair. He was wearing a red T-shirt with a grey button-down shirt over it and blue jeans, and he was carrying a large green bag at the time of the incident, according to police.
