Police: Death of 87-year-old Arlington Man 'Suspicious'
A relative found the man dead Saturday.
Authorities are investigating what they consider to be the "suspicious" death of an 87-year-old Arlington man.
“Anytime there is a death we are going to do a thorough investigation,” said Arlington County Police Department spokesman Dustin Sternbeck.
The body of Mack L. Wood was discovered at 10:17 a.m. on Saturday in his home in the 3700 block of North Wakefield Street in the Old Glebe neighborhood, the Arlington County Police Department reported Tuesday afternoon.

The man was found by a family member. The department's homicide/robbery unit is investigating Wood's death.
The medical examiner is also working to determine the exact time and cause of death, however, Sternbeck said that Wood was accounted for by another person within the 24 hours before he was found dead.

Wood’s home was not visibly ransacked when the family member found him, Sternbeck said, who could not go into details at this time on what prompted officers to determine it was a suspicious death.
Police will know more after they obtain a report from the medical examiner sometime Wednesday, Sternbeck said.
