Police: Indecent Exposure Reported at Columbia Pike Business

Spokesman: Suspect fled while employee reported incident to manager.

The Arlington County Police Department is investigating a case of indecent exposure reported at a pharmacy on Columbia Pike.

At about 8:15 p.m. Sunday, an unidentified man was seen masturbating in an aisle of a store in the 5000 block of Columbia Pike, according to information police released today.

He had only been in the store a few minutes before he was spotted, police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck said.

The man, thought to be in his mid-20s, was seen by a loss prevention manager at the store. The employee reported the matter to the store manager and then called the police, Sternbeck said.

Meanwhile, the man fled.

Sunday's incident is the latest in a growing number of indecent exposure cases reported in the last two months.

"One thing police would ask for is that if you do find yourself a victim or witness an individual engaged in indecent exposure or masturbation, please report it to the police immediately, rather than following an internal chain of command or waiting until you get home to tell your significant other," Sternbeck said.

"That will lead to the police getting to the scene faster and possibly locating these individuals."
