Police: Arlington Man Accused of Swinging a Cane at Victim

Hubert Leon Willoughby was charged in the incident.

A 52-year-old man is accused of breaking into a room and swinging a cane at a sleeping victim, according to the Arlington County Police Department.

Hubert Leon Willoughby, of Arlington, has been charged with malicious wounding. He is being held without bond, according to police.

The incident began at 9:05 a.m. Tuesday in the 400 block of North Seventh Street, when police say Willoughby entered the room where the victim was sleeping. Willoughby struck the victim with a cane and began hitting that person in the face, according to police.

The victim was eventually able to break free and left the room through a window, police said. A roommate was able to call police, and the victim and Willoughby were taken to a local hospital for treatment.
