A man had his cell phone stolen after two men asked him to borrow it, according to police.
The victim told police he was getting off a bus at 2 p.m. Saturday and two men followed him. The men asked him to use his phone. The victim said he didn’t have one, but the men continued to follow him for a few blocks, police report.
Eventually, the suspects asked to use the man’s phone again, and when victim again said no, one of the suspects grabbed the victim’s left hand and twisted it backwards. The second man punched him in the face, according to police.
The pair took the victim's phone and ran away. One of the robbers wore a striped purple shirt and the other wore a black shirt. The robbery took place in the 5000 block of 8th Road South.
A man was walking home when he was “aggressively” approached by two men, one of whom appeared to be pulling out a gun, according to police.
The victim said that he ran away and dropped the bag he was carrying in the process. The robbers picked up the bag before running away.
The incident took place at 12:34 a.m. Monday in the 2200 block of South Army Navy Drive.
Both robbers were in their mid-20s. One was about 6 feet tall, 220 pounds, and wore blue jeans, a leather jacket, and a white-and-black shirt. He also had a mustache and medium length black hair.
The second man was about 5 feet, 9 inches tall, 125 pounds, and wore black jeans, a leather jacket, and a white and black shirt. He had short black hair and a mustache.
A television was stolen sometime between 6 a.m. Monday and 12:52 a.m. Tuesday from a home in the 2400 block of South Oxford Street, according to police.
A cell phone and money were stolen from a hotel room sometime between 6:15 a.m. Monday and 1:35 a.m. Tuesday from a hotel in the 3300 block of Lee Highway, according to police.
Copper wire was taken from a construction site sometime between 4 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. Tuesday in the 2500 block of 10th Road North, according to police.
Jewelry and electronics were taken Monday from a home in the 4500 block of 6th Street South, police report.
Someone tried and failed to break into a cash register at a restaurant, according to police. Surveillance video shows that a man broke in sometime between midnight and noon Sunday at the business in the 3400 block of North Washington Boulevard. The man was shown trying to open the register without success.
A computer was stolen sometime between 8:30 a.m. and 8:38 p.m. Friday from a home in the 5000 block of North Washington Boulevard, according to police.
Four laptops were stolen after someone broke in through a window between 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. Jan. 9 at a home in the 1200 block of North Scott Street, police report.
Copper wire was taken from a construction site sometime between 3 p.m. on Jan. 8 and 6:20 a.m. on Jan. 9 in the 1500 block of North Clarendon Boulevard, police report.
Jewelry was taken sometime between 5 p.m. Jan. 2 and 12:32 p.m. Jan. 8 from a home in the 1600 block of North George Mason Drive, police report. The burglar forced their way in through a door.
Larceny from an auto (series)
A GPS was stolen from a locked car, according to police. The car was broken into sometime between 9:30 p.m. Saturday and 1:19 a.m. Sunday in the 2800 block of North Tacoma Street. Scratches were on the door frame of the car. Other cars in the area were also damaged in this way.
Destruction of Property
Seven cars had broken mirrors, broken windows, and dented frames, according to police. Residents said they heard loud noises and a car pass by at about 10 p.m. Saturday in the 3500 block of North Nottingham Street.
