Crime Report: Currency Exchange Robbed, Man Charged with Indecent Exposure, and More

The following information was supplied by the Arlington County Police Department.

Robbery

A currency exchange station was robbed on Christmas Eve, according to the Arlington County Police Department.

The robbery took place at 2:42 p.m. Dec. 24 at the exchange inside the Pentagon City Mall, 1100 S. Hayes St., according to police

The suspect was described as a man approximately 50 years old, 150 pounds, and with a short beard. He wore a jean jacket over a black hooded sweatshirt and a black hat, according to police.

A 63-year-old man has been charged with indecent exposure after police said he was seen masturbating inside the sauna of a gym.

Morris Umansky, of Arlington, was seen fondling himself at the gym at 9:21 a.m. Dec. 21 at the gym in the 3500 block of South Clark Street, according to police.

Robbery

A personal iPhone was stolen between 6:35 and 7:35 p.m. on Dec. 23 at the Ballston Common Mall, 4238 Wilson Blvd., according to the Arlington County Police Department.

The suspect was in his late teens, about 5 feet, 9 inches tall, and about 150 pounds. He had a goatee and a tattoo on the right side of his neck. He wore a grey hooded sweatshirt and jeans at the time, police report.

Robbery

A man was robbed at gunpoint in Highland Park, according to Arlington police.

The robbery took place at 7 p.m. Dec. 19 at the park, 1600 S. Hayes St., when the victim was approached by someone who pulled a gun at him, according to police.

The robber demanded the victim’s wallet, which he took and then ran away with another man who had been on lookout, according to police.

The man who pulled the gun was described as being in his 20s and about 6 feet tall with a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt, dark jeans and white sneakers. The second man was in his 30s with long braided hair, a puffy jacket and Timberland boots.

Malicious Wounding by Mob

Two people were assaulted at a house party after someone spilled beer on another person, according to Arlington police.

The incident occurred at 2:38 a.m. Dec. 23 at a home in the 4000 block of South Eighth Street, police reported. Two victims were assaulted by eight unknown attackers.

One of the victims went to the hospital to treat a cut ear, a possible broken jaw, and several other lacerations that came from being hit with a bottle, according to police. Authorities were unable to obtain much information about the attackers.

Burglary

Children’s presents were stolen from inside a church office sometime between 8 and 9 a.m. Dec. 22 in the 1500 block of North Glebe Road, according to Arlington police.

Burglary

Cat products and computer hardware were taken from a locked business sometime between 9:30 a.m. and 7:50 p.m. on Christmas Day in the 900 block of North Kenmore Street, according to Arlington police.

Burglary

Up to 20 fur coats were taken after someone smashed the front window of a clothing store, according to Arlington police. The items were stolen sometime between 1:25 and 4:23 a.m. Dec. 23 in the 2100 block of South Crystal Drive, police report.

Destruction of property

At least 20 tires were slashed sometime between 10:30 p.m. Dec. 20 and 7 a.m. Dec. 21 in the 1900 block of North Edison Street, according to Arlington police. Police have no information on possible suspects.
