Crime Report: Attempted Robbery at Gateway Park and More

The following information was supplied by the Arlington County Police Department for incidents through Wednesday.

Attempted Robbery

A 49-year-old man was charged with attempted robbery after getting in an argument over money at Gateway Park, according to the Arlington County Police Department. 

Jeffery Johnson, of Arlington, approached the victim at 11:30 p.m. Saturday at the park in the 1300 block of North Lee Highway, according to police. Johnson and the victim got in an argument over money, and police said he struck the victim in the face before fleeing.

Johnson was arrested and is being held without bond.

Burglary

Several pieces of jewelry were taken from a home in the 1600 block of North George Mason Drive sometime between 5 p.m. on Jan. 2 and 12:32 p.m. Tuesday, according to police. The burglar forced his or her way into the home through a door.

Two laptops were stolen sometime between 6 p.m. Friday and 7:30 a.m. Monday from a business in the 2200 block of South Crystal Drive. The burglar forced his or her way in through a door, according to police.

Some cash left on the kitchen counter of a home was stolen sometime between 11:20 a.m. and 11:33 a.m. on Jan. 3 in the 3900 block of North 5th Street, according to police. The burglar entered the home through a window.

Burglary

Money was taken from a restaurant’s cash register, police report. The money was taken sometime between 10:30 p.m. Jan. 2 and 9:20 a.m. Jan. 3. at the restaurant in the 1100 block of North Highland Street. Nothing else appeared to be missing.
