Couple Returns Home to Find Lights Out, Bathroom Used

Arlington police investigating unlawful entry into an apartment.

Police are investigating a reported case of unlawful entry in the 3600 block of 5th Street South in which an unknown person entered a residence, defecated in the bathroom, and left without flushing.

The residents left home early Valentine's Day and returned at 6 p.m. the next day.

In that time, someone entered their apartment and used the bathroom, according to police.

The couple knew something was wrong because they usually keep several lights on when they leave, and those had all been turned off, police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck said.

No items were reported missing. Police reported no signs of forced entry, Sternbeck said.
