Arlington Woman, 23, Charged in Domestic Dispute

Police: Woman attempted to stab live-in boyfriend.

The Arlington County Police Department has accused a 23-year-old woman of attempting to stab her live-in boyfriend with a kitchen knife during a domestic dispute this week.

Ledys Paola Garces Perez, of Arlington, has been arrested and charged with attempted malicious wounding.

At about 8 p.m. Tuesday, Perez and her boyfriend were having a verbal argument, police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck said. The couple lives together with their toddler in the 1500 block of South George Mason Drive.

Sternbeck did not know what they were arguing about. The man and woman gave conflicting stories about what ensued, he said.

At some point, Perez went into their kitchen, grabbed a knife and attempted to stab her boyfriend, Sternbeck said.

The boyfriend was able to grab her wrist and suffered only a minor cut, Sternbeck said.

Sternbeck would not say if there is a history of domestic calls from this address.

Drugs or alcohol were not involved, he said.

The baby was not injured and remains in parental custody, he said.
