Arlington Detective, Officer Honored for Combating Scams Against Elderly

Arlington County Crime Solvers presents first Detective of the Year award.

The Arlington County Crime Solvers this month awarded its first Detective of the Year award, which the volunteer group hopes to make an annual tradition.
Arlington County police Detective Christine Everest and Officer James O'Daniel received the award.

Everest and O'Daniel were recognized Wednesday for their "relentless commitment" in the past year to combat scam and fraud against the elderly, according to a news release.

"Through a combination of the countless hours they spent with victims, their investigative instincts, awareness and dedication, these officers are credited with protecting the elderly population against scam artists," the release states. "In addition to assisting the unfortunate victims that were manipulated out of hundreds of thousands of dollars, they educated citizens throughout the County on the solicitors who target and exploit vulnerable and elderly residents."
