The JFK March: remembering a man and his spirit

Remembering the man and his spirit

Join us in paying homage to President, John F. Kennedy and his legacy, exactly 50 years from his death.

On Friday, November 22, 2013, a group of admirers called the FreeWalkers will host a 22-mile walk ending at his final resting place in Arlington National Cemetery. This event is meant to celebrate his life and the lives of others that were given in the service of our country. The public is invited to join our march in the Washington DC area.

We will center our walk-march around the Eternal Flame gravesite of JFK. The route is a circular loop around the district consisting of natural trails, streets and monuments to many who gave their lives to our country.

While the day is a somber one, we wish to celebrate the lives of those past that have benefitted us and the future of our nation.

We are posting an itinerary for the walk and ask you to join us for all or part of the 22 miles. The walk starts at Theodore Roosevelt Island goes around the District and culminates with a ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.

In addition to the walk, we are asking you to consider putting words into actions by signing a pledge called the WhatYouCanDo Pledge. Just decide on some action that you personally can take to benefit others and record it. We'll even help you track your progress.

The event is FREE and anyone can take the WhatYouCanDo Pledge. Join us in making the day a special tribute to JFK!
