Update: Winter Weather Advisory Canceled, May Still See Some Snow

The National Weather Service has discontinued the winter weather advisory for Arlington and much of the DC region. However, we may still see under an inch of snowfall this evening, according to the weather service.

The National Weather Service said Thursday morning that Arlington County and the region can expect 1 to 3 inches of snow today, down from the 5 inches or so predicted last night.

The weather service also issued a winter weather advisory in effect from 3 p.m. today through 11 this evening. Snow will mix with rain this morning, then we should see periods of snowfall in the late afternoon and evening, according to the service.

Temperatures will be in the mid 30s, and roads may be snow covered during rush hour.

As of 9:30 a.m., Arlington Public Schools and Arlington County Government offices have not announced any closures for the day.

School closures are announced online or via a telephone hotline at 1-866-322-4277. County government closures are announced on the county's Snow & Ice Central page, and you can subscribe for updates through the Arlington Alert system.

Snow removal crews will be out all day and evening, according to the Arlington County Department of Environmental Services which manages snow removal.
