Vice President Joe Biden Visits Liberty Tavern in Clarendon

Biden was visiting Arlington to film a segment for a morning news show.

Vice President Joe Biden visited Clarendon's Liberty Tavern Wednesday. 

He was there filming a segment for MSNBC's "Morning Joe" show that is scheduled to air Thursday morning.

"They told us they had a short list of restaurants in Arlington and Alexandria and Liberty Tavern was chosen," said Mark Fedorchak, who is an owner of the Liberty Tavern, Northside Social Coffee & Wine, and Lyon Hall restaurants in Clarendon.

Members of the Secret Service were spotted outside the restaurant by Twitter users as early as 7:30 a.m. Wednesday. The Vice President and his motorcade did not make it to Clarendon until 11 a.m., and by then a group of onlookers had gathered outside the restaurant, waiting to get a glimpse of the VP.

Biden had coffee and pastries from Northside Social during his visit, Fedorchak said.

"We had a nice conversation, we share roots," Fedorchak said. "My family is also from Northeast Pennsylvania."

Before he left, Biden signed a menu for the crew that read: "Next time lunch, thanks for the hospitality, Joe Biden." 

Fedorchak is hoping the vice president will make it back soon. It wasn't the first time the restaurant has seen some famous patrons, .

"We are thrilled to have hosted the incumbent president and the vice president," Fedorchak said.
